Human Resource Generalist

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit and screen job applicants to fill entry-level, professional and technical job openings.
  • Conduct background checks, pre-employment drug screening and process new hire paperwork in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintenance of employee files, records and statistics in accordance with the laws, regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, customers and vendors by any means necessary to assure understanding and accurate transfer of information.
  • Assists with employee benefit programs, training programs and personnel development programs.
  • Process Weekly and Bi-Weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain and update payroll system data including pay rates, compensation adjustments, deductions, paid leave, address changes, and employment status updates.
  • Assist with the administration of recreational activities and other programs aimed at maintaining employee interest, participation, and morale.
  • Consults and coordinates with Human Resources Director in matters involving overall employee relations policies and practices.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work successfully in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and compliance on state and federal laws, implements policies appropriately including wage and hour, Affirmative Action, OSHA, Workers’ Compensation and Risk Management, FMLA, COBRA and 401k.
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards or regulations to employees.
  • Respond to state requests for garnishment and employee information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work and effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to comply with Tokai Carbon GS standards of operations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources (HR) best practices and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience conducting new hire orientations
  • Customer service-oriented mindset
  • Ability to effectively handle employee relations issues

Compensation

Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to the candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $70,000 – $80,000 annually.
