Together, we will deliver even greater value as your trusted partner in carbon and graphite solutions, precision machining, and advanced technology innovation.

Founded as Tokai Electrode Mfg. Co. Ltd. Business set up to provide a steady supply of quality graphite electrodes. Anticipated growth in electricity-using industries with healthy demand for carbon products. Was also a response to make effective use of the excess electricity at the time.

Electro Tech Machining was founded in 1936 in Long Beach, CA to serve the needs for the US Navy. Originally a marine specialty group, ETM found our niche rebuilding military engines for the naval bases in California’s South Bay area.

Electro Tech Machining expands, and the current building is constructed
Mor-Wear Industries, with warehouses nationwide, establishes itself as the premier distributor of EDM consumables.
Mor-Wear Industries (MWI Inc.) and Southern Graphite UK formed a 50/50 joint venture, Southern Graphite USA, to strengthen and expand their engineering and machining expertise.
MWI Inc. acquires Electro Tech Machining to expand its capabilities and strengthen its national footprint.
The Tanoura Plant commenced production exclusively dedicated to fine carbon.

Established Tokai Carbon America, Inc. in New York as an overseas subsidiary to strengthen Tokai Carbon's sales activities outside Japan. (Integrated with Tokai Carbon U.S.A., INC in September 1996)

MWI, Inc. and Tokai Carbon formed an equity partnership.

Tokai Carbon USA completes SiC SVD and purification facilities in Hillsboro, OR. MWI Inc. expands it’s machining capacity and manufacturing locations.

MWI Inc. invests in additional purification capacity to meet the requirements of demanding applications.

Electro Tech Machining invest in 5 axis capabilities with a machining envelope of 60” x 150” x 250 axis machining.

Electro Tech Machining doubles manufacturing footprint to support growth and increase capacity.
MWI, Inc. restructures to adopt Customer Experience Teams (CETs) to provide comprehensive carbon and graphite solutions.

100-year anniversary of foundation

Investment in new Rochester, NY plant to meet the growing demand.

Tokai Carbon USA acquires KBR Inc., assuming control of MWI Inc. and Electro Tech Machining.

Tokai Carbon USA, MWI Inc., and Electro Tech Machining merged to form a single, unified organization. The surviving company is Tokai Carbon GS, Inc. This merger represents an exciting step forward as we combine our strengths, resources, and expertise to better serve you with carbon and graphite solutions.
